I'm considering getting a new sander and came across the Bosch GEX18V-5B15. Has anyone used it or have experience with this model? I've heard good things about it for woodwork beginners.

Yeah, I've been using the Bosch GEX18V-5B15 for a couple of months now. It's great for beginners! The 4 Ah battery lasts long enough for most projects and the dust collection feature keeps my workspace clean. Here's an overview article about it Overview of the Bosch GEX18V-5B15 Sander.

That's really helpful, thanks! So you find the sanding pad size to be adequate for your needs?

Absolutely, the 5-inch pad size is perfect for most of my projects. It covers larger areas quickly and efficiently.

I've been using a different Bosch model, but I'm thinking about switching to the GEX18V-5B15. Can anyone comment on how it handles different materials?

The Bosch GEX18V-5B15 is great with various materials. It's particularly good at removing paint and old varnish from wood surfaces.

I've been using the Bosch GEX18V-5B15 for a couple of months now, and it's perfect for my woodworking projects! The no-load speed of 6,000 to 10,000 OPM is impressive. Also, as @ignatiousp mentioned, the battery life is great.

That's what I'm looking for in a sander. One last question: does anyone have experience with the brushless motor? How does it compare to brushed motors?

I've used both kinds of motors, and I must say that the brushless motor on the GEX18V-5B15 is fantastic! It's more efficient, lasts longer, and doesn't produce as much heat or noise compared to my older brushed motor sander. Definitely worth considering!

Thanks everyone for your input. Based on what you've said, I think I'll go ahead and get the Bosch GEX18V-5B15! Goodbye, sanding hassle!
