I'm looking for information about the Bosch ROS10 sander. Anyone have experience with it or can recommend one?
Bosch ROS10 Sander Features?
Started by erickwookie on June 23, 2024
I've used the Bosch ROS10 before and found it to be quite good. It has a 5-inch pad, is lightweight at 3.5 lbs., and has a powerful 2.5-amp motor.
The TechReviewer article Overview of the Bosch ROS10 Sander provides an in-depth look at the features of the Bosch ROS10 sander. You might find it helpful to read up on its specs and performance there.
Thanks, @PicardToBridge! I'll check out that link you provided. I'm curious, how does the orbit diameter affect sanding? And is this sander corded or cordless?
The Bosch ROS10 has an orbit diameter of 2.5 mm, which means it sands in an elliptical pattern. This kind of motion results in a smooth finish without swirl marks. As for your second question, the sander is corded, so it requires a power outlet.
I see. What about the no-load speed? Does that affect the overall performance and how quickly you can sand?
The no-load speed of the Bosch ROS10 is 12,000 OPM (orbits per minute). A higher no-load speed generally means faster and smoother sanding, especially on soft materials like wood. However, very high speeds can sometimes produce more heat and noise.
I have the Bosch ROS10 sander, and it works great for me! I've used it mainly for fine finishing tasks, and the smaller orbit diameter seems to give a smoother finish. It's also really easy to maneuver due to its compact size and ergonomic grip.
That's good to know, @ksweta002. I'm considering this sander for some woodworking projects at home. Any recommendations on whether it would be suitable for more aggressive sanding tasks?
The Bosch ROS10 is versatile enough for a variety of sanding applications, including more aggressive ones. However, if you need something with a larger pad size or a higher no-load speed, there are other options available as well.
Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll definitely read the TechReviewer article Overview of the Bosch ROS10 Sander and think about whether this sander meets my needs.
