I've been looking at the Craftsman CMCD701C2 drill for some woodworking projects. Has anyone had any experience with it?

Yeah, I've used it for a couple of small projects and it's worked great! The 20-volt brushless motor gives it plenty of power for most tasks. Check out this article for more info Overview of the Craftsman CMCD701C2 Drill.

Thanks for sharing, @mikebwesty. The 0-500/1800 RPM speed settings sound pretty impressive. I'm wondering how well it handles harder woods?

I've been using the CMCD701C2 for a few months now and I can vouch for its performance on hardwoods. It's handled everything I've thrown at it, including oak and maple.

Great to hear, @cocoabeachbrews. What about the clutch settings? How do they help with controlling torque?

The 15 clutch settings are really useful. They allow you to control the amount of torque applied, which is especially helpful when driving screws into harder materials or using it for delicate tasks.

I can also vouch for the battery life on this drill. It's pretty impressive and gives me enough time to complete my projects without needing to stop and recharge in the middle.

That's good to know, @Mauronic and @mikebwesty. I'm starting a new project and might need some advice on choosing the right battery. Any recommendations?

For woodworking tasks, I'd recommend going for a higher Ah (amp-hour) rating. A 1.3Ah battery like the one that comes with the CMCD701C2 should be sufficient for most DIY tasks, but if you're planning on working for extended periods, it might be worth considering a higher capacity battery.

Thanks for the advice, @cocoabeachbrews. I think I'll go ahead and give this drill a try. It seems like a great option for my woodworking projects!
