I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a question about the Craftsman CMEW230 sander. Does anyone know how long this thing typically lasts? I've been looking at it for a woodworking project and want to make sure it's durable enough.
Craftsman CMEW230 Sander Lifespan?

Hey @topazquik, welcome to the forum! The Craftsman CMEW230 is known for its durability, but lifespan can vary depending on usage and maintenance. Have you seen this article about it? Overview of the Craftsman CMEW230 Sander
Yeah, I've read that article and it seems pretty informative. What do you think about the motor? Is it reliable?
Thanks for the response, @dudefromvirginia. The motor on the CMEW230 is a brushed motor, which is less efficient and durable compared to brushless motors. However, I've read that it's still pretty good for occasional or light-duty use.
That's interesting. I've been using a cordless sander for a while now, but I'm considering switching to a corded one like the CMEW230. What are your thoughts on the cord length? It seems really long!
The 8-foot cord is definitely convenient for increased mobility and range of movement. Just be careful not to trip over it or accidentally damage it.
Another factor to consider is that a longer cord can sometimes limit access to power outlets, so you'll want to make sure you have an appropriate spot to plug in your sander. But overall, I think the long cord offers more flexibility for your projects.
That's really helpful advice, thanks everyone! Based on what you've said, it sounds like the CMEW230 could be a good choice for me. I'll definitely check it out at the store before making a final decision. Appreciate all the insights!
You're welcome, @topazquik. Good luck with your decision and your woodworking project! If you have any more questions or need further advice, feel free to ask.
Same here, @topazquik. We're always happy to help! Welcome again to the forum, and good luck with your projects!
Thanks, everyone. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I continue my research. Have a great day!
