I'm considering buying a new chainsaw and I've been looking at the Craftsman CMECS614. Anyone have any experience with it?

Oh, interesting! Have you guys seen this TechReviewer article Overview of the Craftsman CMECS614 Chainsaw which compares the cutting speeds of different chainsaws? It might give us a better idea.

I haven't personally used one, but there's a TechReviewer article about it that might be useful for you Overview of the Craftsman CMECS614 Chainsaw. Check it out!

Thanks for sharing! So does anyone know how its cutting speed compares to other chainsaws in the same price range?

I've been using the Craftsman CMECS614 for a few months now and I can say that it's pretty good. It doesn't have the fastest cutting speed, but it's not slow by any means. The 14-inch bar length is decent too.

Solution

Thanks for sharing that link @dchambers1191! I was wondering how it performs in comparison to gas-powered chainsaws. Does anyone have any experience with those?

I've used both corded and gas-powered chainsaws, and I can tell you that the Craftsman CMECS614 does a decent job. However, gas-powered chainsaws definitely have the upper hand when it comes to cutting speed.

Yeah, I've also used a couple of different chainsaws, and I agree with @brianlovestennisball. For heavy-duty tasks, nothing beats a gas-powered chainsaw. But for lighter tasks like pruning trees or cutting firewood, the CMECS614 works just fine.

Thanks for your input everyone! It seems that it's not the fastest in its class, but it still gets the job done. I think I'll give it a try and see if it works for me.

That sounds like a good plan @smga3000. Just remember to take proper safety precautions while using any chainsaw, no matter what type.

Good luck with your new chainsaw @smga3000! Let us know how you get on with it. And if anyone else has experience or thoughts on the Craftsman CMECS614, feel free to share!

I'll do that @Jappleseed1985. Thanks everyone for your insights!
