Started by IworkedforPFG on June 20, 2024

I'm thinking about getting a DeWalt DCD799 drill for my DIY projects. Can anyone tell me more about its cord length? And is it good for drilling into concrete or brick?

Hi @IworkedforPFG, the DCD799 is a cordless drill, so there's no physical cord. It comes with a battery that you charge separately. I've been using mine for some light projects and it works great! You can find more information in this TechReviewer article Overview of the DeWalt DCD799 Drill.

Yeah, the DCD799 doesn't have a traditional cord which means it's really flexible and easy to move around. The lack of a cord also eliminates any risk of tangling or tripping hazards.

That's good to know! I'm planning on using it for some woodworking projects. How does its performance compare to other drills in the same price range?

Based on my experience, the DCD799 performs quite well compared to other drills in the same price range. It has a powerful 20-volt motor and can handle most tasks around the house or workshop with ease.

Solution

Just a word of caution, make sure you have extra batteries on hand because the DCD799 can drain them quickly if you're using it for more intense tasks. That's something I learned the hard way.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep that in mind and maybe invest in an extra battery to ensure I don't run out of power mid-project.

One last question, does anyone know how long the DCD799's cord is? As in, if it had a cord, what would it be?

Ha! I see what you're saying now. The "cord" on the DCD799 is actually just the battery cable connecting to the drill. There is no physical cord like the traditional ones on corded drills. So technically, there's no specific length for the cord, but it's long enough to provide good mobility and reach.

Ah, got it! Thanks everyone for all your help and advice. I'll go ahead and purchase the DCD799. Looking forward to using it for my projects!
