I'm thinking about getting a new sander, and I've been looking into the Dewalt DWE6423. Has anyone here used it? I'd love to hear some opinions!
Dewalt DWE6423 for Wood Finishing?
Started by seentibbers on June 24, 2024
Hey @seentibbers, I've been using one for a few months now and really like it! It's pretty powerful and the dust collection is great too.
That sounds good, thanks for sharing @SikhMagnet. What do you think about the no-load speed of 8,000 to 12,000 OPM? Does that seem sufficient for most tasks?
I've used one as well, and I agree with @SikhMagnet on the power and dust collection. However, I found the 8,000 to 12,000 OPM range a bit too high for some projects, especially when working with dense materials.
I recently read an article about this sander on TechReviewer. It might be helpful to check it out: Overview of the Dewalt DWE6423 Sander.
Thanks for sharing the link, @cryptolaxy. I appreciate it! What do you think is a better option: a cordless or corded sander? And does anyone have experience with brushless motors?
I prefer corded sanders because of their consistent power and unlimited runtime. As for brushless motors, they're more efficient and durable but can be a bit more expensive.
I've been using the DWE6423 for woodworking projects around my house, and I must say it's really easy to maneuver with its ergonomic grip. The compact size also makes it great for tight spaces.
That's good to know, @andrewsal01. I'm still trying to decide between this sander and a different one. Is there anything about the DWE6423 that stands out as a particular strong point or unique feature?
In my experience, the random orbital action of the DWE6423 is a standout feature. It minimizes swirl marks and produces a smooth finish on various surfaces.
I agree with @SikhMagnet about the random orbital action. For me, that's what really sets this sander apart from others in its price range.
