Drill for Woodworking Projects?
Started by PantheraTS on July 02, 2024
I've used the Craftsman CMCD732 cordless drill, and it's been great for my woodworking projects. There's an article on TechReviewer that gives a detailed overview of this drill Overview of the Craftsman CMCD732 Drill. You might find it helpful.
I've also had good experiences with DeWalt's DCD996 hammer drill. It's pretty powerful and works well in wood.
The Craftsman CMCD732 is awesome for woodworking! Its 20-volt motor, combined with the 0-600/1,900 RPM range and a 1/2-inch chuck size, makes it very versatile. I've used it to drill holes and drive screws without any issues. Plus, its brushless motor and 15 clutch settings add to its overall performance.
I'm not sure about the specific models you mentioned, but one thing I always keep in mind when choosing a drill for woodworking is the torque output and battery life. Those factors are important for handling dense materials and ensuring your project doesn't get interrupted by a dead battery.
Thanks for the input! I'll definitely check out the Craftsman CMCD732 based on your recommendation, @ChaveyJones. And @EndlesslyQuestioning, your experience with it sounds great too. But what about battery life? Is it good?
Yes, the battery life of the Craftsman CMCD732 is pretty decent. I haven't faced any issues with it running out of power during my woodworking projects. Of course, it depends on the intensity and duration of your work, but I've found that a single charge usually lasts me for multiple sessions.
I have to agree with @EndlesslyQuestioning about the Craftsman CMCD732. I used it to drill holes in a wooden frame last weekend, and the battery didn't die on me until after three hours of continuous use. That's pretty impressive!
Wow, that's great to hear! So, it seems like the Craftsman CMCD732 is a good choice for woodworking projects. I'll probably go with that one then. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
You're welcome, @PantheraTS! If you have any more questions or need any further advice, just let us know. Good luck with your woodworking projects!
Definitely! And remember to take into account the drill's weight when selecting one, as it can impact comfort and maneuverability during long sessions.
Absolutely! The Craftsman CMCD732 weighs 3.1 lbs, which I find comfortable for extended periods of work. But everyone's preferences might be different, so do try out a few models if you have the chance.
Your advice has been really helpful. I'll keep all these factors in mind while choosing my drill. Have a great day!
