Yeah, it's a great choice! The 14,000 OPM no-load speed is amazing. Check out this TechReviewer article for more details Overview of the Dewalt DWE6411 Sander. I've used it on various woodwork projects and it's been fantastic.
That sounds interesting, @EvolvingHippie. But what about the motor? Is it brushless or brushed?
Thanks for your input, @EvolvingHippie. I'm curious about that too, @chefcella. What are the differences between brushless and brushed motors in this context?
@Benjiman1985, @chefcella, a brushed motor is used in the DWE6411 sander. It's less expensive but not as efficient or durable as a brushless motor.
Right, @daastheboss. A brushless motor tends to be better at adapting its power output based on the material being sanded. However, it might be overkill for occasional use or smaller projects.
I see, thanks everyone. So, would you recommend this sander for a beginner like me? What about its corded nature?
@Benjiman1985, if you're planning to do a lot of sanding, the DWE6411 could be great. However, being corded means it's less mobile and requires access to an outlet. It might be more suitable for someone with a dedicated workshop space.
That's true, @chefcella. On the other hand, its 8-foot cord provides decent range of movement, which can come in handy during certain tasks.
Thanks for all your input! What about the weight and dust collection? Are these features worth considering?
@Benjiman1985, the DWE6411 weighs just 3.8 lbs., making it easy to handle for extended periods without causing fatigue. As for the dust collection feature, it helps keep your workspace clean by collecting most of the dust generated during sanding.
I've used this sander on a few projects and found the dust collection to be quite effective. It definitely makes the job cleaner and healthier.
Great, thanks everyone! Based on your suggestions, I think the DWE6411 could be a good fit for my needs.
