I recently got a Black+Decker LCS1240B chainsaw and I'm looking for some advice on cutting hardwood trees. Any tips?
Hardwood Tree Cutting With Chainsaw

Nice choice! For hardwoods, it's better to use a longer bar length. The 12-inch one on your chainsaw should still work fine but it'll take a bit more effort.
Good point @smurfinq1. Also, I found this article that might be helpful for you all: Overview of the Black+Decker LCS1240B Chainsaw.
Thanks for sharing @buzzorotto, I didn't know there was an article on this. So does the maximum voltage play a role in cutting hardwoods?
Yes, it does. A higher max voltage like your chainsaw's 40 volts will give you more power and efficiency when cutting through hardwood.
I've been using a gas-powered chainsaw for years, but the Black+Decker LCS1240B has some great features like no chain brake but tool-free chain tensioning. That might be useful.
Interesting point @Zicro2K16. Does anyone have experience with safety concerns when not having a chain brake?
I've used my chainsaw for some hardwood cutting without any issues so far, and I haven't had any problems with the lack of a chain brake. However, I do make sure to use proper safety gear and follow best practices.
That's good to hear @buzzorotto. The key is always to be careful and prepared. But in terms of the chainsaw itself, it seems like it's doing the job for you.
Yeah, I think if you're careful with your technique and maintenance, a chainsaw without a chain brake can still be safe enough for hardwood cutting. Just make sure to adjust the chain tension when needed.
Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll definitely keep that in mind as I start using my new chainsaw.
