I'm looking to buy a chainsaw and I came across the Black+Decker LCS1240B. Has anyone had any experience with this one?

Thanks for sharing your experience, @gluczkowski2. In the TechReviewer article Overview of the Black+Decker LCS1240B Chainsaw, they discuss how the lack of a chain brake isn't necessarily a deal-breaker if the chainsaw performs well in other areas. What do you guys think?

I've used it for a while now and it's pretty good! The battery power is nice because there are no cords to worry about.

That's correct, @lexalbrecht. The TechReviewer article Overview of the Black+Decker LCS1240B Chainsaw gives an overview of the LCS1240B and its features. It has a maximum voltage of 40 volts which makes it powerful for cutting tasks. Have you found it suitable for your needs?

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting one too! How does that 12-inch bar work out?

The bar length is good for most of my tasks, but for heavy-duty stuff, I'd recommend a longer bar. It's definitely worth considering though!

I've had the LCS1240B for about six months now and it works great for occasional tree trimming.

That's good to hear, @gluczkowski2. So, does the lack of a chain brake bother you at all? I'm just curious if it's a big deal or not.

It didn't really bother me. The tool-free chain tensioning is really useful though, as it makes adjustments super easy!

Solution

Yeah, I think it might not be a huge issue for me. But is the weight of this thing okay? It's kinda heavy for me.

The 8.3 lbs weight isn't bad at all, @yasoyeso. Once you get used to carrying it around, it's manageable. Plus, it does have some good power behind it!

Agreed, the weight is a bit much but it's not unbearable. Just make sure you're in decent shape and you'll be fine.

Thanks for all the input! I think I might go ahead and get one. Appreciate your help everyone.
