Makita XSR01PT for Plywood Cutting?

Started by NinjaViktor on June 22, 2024

I'm considering buying a circular saw for plywood cutting. Has anyone used the Makita XSR01PT? I've heard good things about it but wanted to see what you all think.

Just wanted to chime in about the Makita XSR01PT. I wrote a review for TechReviewer about it, and it's really an amazing tool. Check out my full review here Overview of the Makita XSR01PT Circular Saw if you're interested!

Yeah, I recently bought one and have been really happy with it. It's powerful and easy to use, plus the battery life is decent too.

I'm not sure if it's the best for cutting plywood specifically, but I did have a great experience using it for other projects like woodworking and metal cutting.

I've used it on plywood, and it works pretty well. It's definitely up to the task of cutting through hardwood, which is what you want when working with plywood.

That link is super helpful, thanks @MythikiX. I'm glad to hear so many good things about this saw. The battery life seems like a huge plus.

Yeah, the battery life isn't amazing, but it's decent for a cordless circular saw. It definitely gets the job done without needing constant charging.

True, and you can always buy an extra battery if needed. I've never had any issues with the battery life being too short for my projects.

That's a good point. I haven't had to worry about battery life because I usually have a charged backup on hand.

It's nice that they offer multiple voltage options too, which can be really useful depending on your specific needs and the type of work you're doing.

Good to know! So, what kind of cutting depth does it have? I need to make sure it's capable of cutting through a couple layers of plywood at once.

The 90-degree depth is 2.563 inches, which should be more than enough for most plywood projects. For a 45-degree angle, you get about 1-3/4 inches of depth, which is also pretty good.

Yeah, the cutting depth is impressive on this saw. I've had no trouble getting through multiple layers of plywood at once.

Same here. The adjustable depth feature makes it super easy to set up for different types of cuts too.

Awesome, thanks everyone! I think I'm sold on the Makita XSR01PT now. The cutting depth and battery life seem like they'll be perfect for my needs.

You won't be disappointed! It's a great saw and well worth the investment if you're serious about your woodworking projects.
