The maximum drilling capacity of the Craftsman CMCD721B is 1/2 inch, which should be suitable for most DIY tasks you mentioned. Have you checked out this article? It provides an overview and detailed analysis of the drill Overview of the Craftsman CMCD721B Drill.

The CMCD721B is a solid option! I've used one before and found it to be quite powerful. What specific tasks are you planning on using it for?

Thanks, @shadowarcher. I'm mostly interested in drilling into wood and occasionally concrete. Anything else worth considering?

Thanks, @eightleggedrabbit! That's good to know. The article looks really informative. I might pick one up based on your suggestions. By the way, what about the battery life? How does it fare when working with concrete?

I didn't personally use it for concrete, but from my experience with similar drills, the battery life should be decent. Just keep in mind that you'll need to purchase a separate battery if you don't already have one.

I've been using the CMCD721B for a while now and I can vouch for its performance. The drill is powerful, and I especially like the brushless motor - it's more efficient and lasts longer compared to other drills I've used. The 13 clutch settings are also great for controlling torque and preventing damage to my work pieces.

That's awesome, @Beto1989. Thanks for sharing your experience! Does anyone else have any recommendations or advice before I make my purchase?

Just remember that the drill doesn't come with a battery, so you'll need to factor that into the total cost if you don't already have one. Other than that, I think it's a good choice for DIY tasks and should serve you well.

Thanks everyone for your input! Based on this discussion, I'm leaning towards getting the Craftsman CMCD721B. I'll keep the battery purchase in mind. Appreciate all the advice!
