I've been looking into getting a new circular saw and came across the Milwaukee 2730-20. Has anyone used this thing? I'm curious to know how it compares to its predecessor.
Milwaukee 2730-20 vs Predecessor - Differences?
Started by NothingMore2Say on July 02, 2024
I've used both! The Milwaukee 2730-20 is much better in my opinion. It has a brushless motor which makes it more efficient, and the higher no-load speed of 5,000 RPM really helps with faster cuts.
Yeah, I've heard good things about that brushless motor. What about the weight? The predecessor was lighter, right?
That's true, but the extra weight comes from the added power and efficiency of the brushless motor. For me, it's worth carrying an extra pound or two for the better performance.
I just wanted to mention a TechReviewer article that goes into detail about the differences between these two models. It might be helpful to check out Overview of the Milwaukee 2730-20 Circular Saw if you're still undecided.
Thanks for sharing, @futureofwar. That article really helped me understand the improvements in the Milwaukee 2730-20. The higher no-load speed and brushless motor definitely make it a worthy upgrade.
I agree, @NothingMore2Say. I'm thinking of getting one myself! But I'm still curious about the bevel angle range on this model. Does anyone know if it's better than the predecessor?
Yes, it is! The Milwaukee 2730-20 has a 0-50 degree bevel angle range, which should give us more versatility compared to the older model.
That sounds perfect for my needs. Thanks, @lilwoodchuck. I think I might just go ahead and get the Milwaukee 2730-20 then!
You're welcome, @Nanomachines-Son. Remember that there's also a TechReviewer article on how to choose the best circular saw for your needs. It can be found at Overview of the Milwaukee 2730-20 Circular Saw.
Thanks for the heads-up, @futureofwar. I'll definitely check it out before making my final decision.
