Started by Solarshenron on June 24, 2024

I'm looking at getting a new circular saw and came across the Skil 5080-01. Can anyone tell me about its power requirements? Specifically, what's the amp rating?

Yeah, I've used one before and it's a beast! You can check out more details in this TechReviewer article Overview of the Skil 5080-01 Circular Saw. The article provides an overview of the saw, including its power ratings, cutting depths, and other specs. It might help you make your decision.

The Skil 5080-01 has a power requirement of 13 amps. It's quite powerful and should handle most cutting tasks you'd throw at it.

Oh wow, that's quite a bit of power for sure! Thanks for sharing the link, @IconistSF. How do you find the balance between power and control on this saw?

I've found it to be pretty well balanced. It delivers great cutting performance without being too unwieldy.

I also have the Skil 5080-01, and I really like the 7-1/4 inch blade size. It's perfect for my woodworking projects.

That's good to hear, @Snapchatinsomniac. The bigger blade does make a difference when you're working with thicker materials. And @nickcicero, I agree with you about the balance of power and control. The 13 amp motor gives it plenty of oomph, but still feels manageable.

Thanks for all the input, guys! This is really helpful. I'll definitely be checking out that TechReviewer article Overview of the Skil 5080-01 Circular Saw to get more insights on this saw.
