I've been looking at the Skil 5180-01 and was curious if it performs well with hardwood? Anyone have any experience with this saw?

From what I've read and heard from others, it seems like the Skil 5180-01 is a decent choice for cutting hardwood. The article I mentioned earlier Overview of the Skil 5180-01 Circular Saw also talks about its performance in more detail.

I haven't personally used the Skil 5180-01, but I can share some general thoughts. In my opinion, a larger blade might help with hardwood. But there's an article on TechReviewer that discusses its performance in detail Overview of the Skil 5180-01 Circular Saw. Maybe you could find it helpful?

That's really useful, thanks! I'll definitely check out the article. What do you think about the no-load speed? It seems pretty fast at 4,600 RPM.

Hey there! I've used the Skil 5180-01 with hardwood and it worked fine for me. The 7-1/4 inch blade is a good size for most things, including hardwood. I'm not sure about its no-load speed though. You could ask @calixreddit for more info on that.

Thanks, @dazbekzart. So you think the Skil 5180-01 would be suitable for my needs then? I'm mostly cutting firewood and some small branches from trees.

I've also used the Skil 5180-01 with hardwood and it worked well. The 14 amps motor definitely provides good power for cutting through hard stuff like that. I don't know about the no-load speed either, but overall I'm happy with my purchase.

That's great to hear, @Runeowl73. So both of you have had positive experiences using this saw with hardwood?

That's good to hear, @brownbeatz! Good luck with your new saw, and let us know how it performs if you get a chance.
