Skil SR6608A-10 Sander Highlights?

I've been using the Skil SR6608A-10 for a few months now and I really like it! It's perfect for detailed work, especially when you need to get into tight spaces. The no-load speed is 12,000 OPM, which works great for smooth sanding on soft materials. Have you checked out this TechReviewer article Overview of the Skil SR6608A-10 Sander that gives an overview of the sander?
That's super helpful! Thanks for sharing the link, @DragonWang. I'm also curious about whether it's better to get a brushless or brushed motor for this type of work.
Hey @GoodKitten17, I've used both types of motors and I can say that the Skil SR6608A-10's brushless motor is really efficient. It lasts longer and doesn't produce as much heat compared to a brushed motor. You might find it useful for extensive projects where you don't want to keep pausing to recharge or replace batteries.
Interesting! I didn't realize there was such a big difference between the two. Thanks for your input, @newasianinvestor. One more thing - does anyone have any experience with the dust collection on this sander? I'm worried about making a mess while I work.
Hey @GoodKitten17, I've used it for some intricate woodworking projects and found that its compact size is great for reaching difficult areas. The dust collection feature works pretty well too. However, you might still end up with some dust on your working surface, so you might want to use a vacuum or other dust removal method alongside the sander.
Thanks everyone for all the input! I think I'm leaning towards getting the Skil SR6608A-10. But I'd like to know if anyone has any experiences with using it on harder materials?
Hey @GoodKitten17, I've used the Skil SR6608A-10 on both soft and hard materials, and it worked fine for me. The brushless motor adapts well to the material being sanded, so you don't need to worry too much about whether it will work on harder stuff.
@GoodKitten17, just one more thing I'd like to mention is that this sander is cordless, which gives you a lot of freedom when working. No cords to trip over or outlets to find! It's definitely a plus for me. The 12V battery also provides good runtime.
Wow, it sounds like the Skil SR6608A-10 really has everything I'm looking for in a sander! Thanks everyone for all your insights and suggestions. Now I just need to buy one!
Good luck with your new sander, @GoodKitten17! And if you have any questions or need advice later on, don't hesitate to ask us here. Happy sanding!
