I've been looking into getting a new circular saw and came across the Bosch GKS18V-26LN. Has anyone had experience using this tool? Any thoughts or recommendations would be great!

Hi @bigbiddeford, I've used the Bosch GKS18V-26LN for some projects recently and it's been working really well! The power and precision are impressive. Check out this TechReviewer article Overview of the Bosch GKS18V-26LN Circular Saw for an overview of its features.
@lousiana, that sounds interesting! I'm particularly interested in how efficient it is with different materials. What kind of performance did you get from the saw?
I've used a similar Bosch saw before and found it to be quite reliable. The 7-1/4 inch blade size is pretty useful for various tasks as well.
@Verdilac, in my experience with the GKS18V-26LN, it performed great with wood, especially since the no-load speed of 5,000 RPM allows for quick and smooth cuts. However, with harder materials like concrete or metal, slower speeds might be more beneficial to maintain control and prolong blade life.
Thanks for the input everyone! The brushless motor seems like a big plus too, as it's supposed to offer better performance, longer life, and increased battery efficiency compared to brushed motors. I'm still trying to decide if I need the power of an 18-volt saw, though. Any advice?
@bigbiddeford, that decision really depends on your specific needs and usage patterns. If you plan on doing heavy-duty work or professional projects, then going with an 18-volt brushless motor like the GKS18V-26LN might be a better choice in the long run. However, for occasional or light-duty tasks, a lower voltage saw could suffice.
@bigbiddeford, I'd also recommend checking out the TechReviewer article Overview of the Bosch GKS18V-26LN Circular Saw that @lousiana mentioned earlier. It provides a detailed analysis of the Bosch GKS18V-26LN and its capabilities, which might help you make an informed decision.
And don't forget to consider battery capacity when choosing your circular saw! Higher amp-hour batteries offer increased power and sustained cutting performance, making them more suitable for heavy workloads and demanding tasks. Lower amp-hour batteries are typically lighter and more compact, but they might struggle with tougher materials.
Great points everyone! I'll definitely be looking into the battery capacity as well as the other factors you mentioned. Thanks for the insights and recommendations!
