Wen 4017 Chainsaw for Firewood Cutting?

Started by teamdevine on July 01, 2024

I've been looking into getting a chainsaw to cut firewood more efficiently. Has anyone used the Wen 4017? Is it any good?

That's awesome to hear. I saw an article on TechReviewer discussing the Wen 4017 chainsaw in detail Overview of the Wen 4017 Chainsaw. You might find it helpful for more insights.

Yeah, I've had my Wen 4017 for a couple of months now and it works great for cutting firewood! The power seems sufficient for this task.

Solution

I'll check it out. The article mentioned that the chain speed is 44 FPS - does anyone have experience with this speed in relation to cutting firewood?

I've used a Wen 4017 before and found the 44 FPS chain speed to be quite adequate for cutting firewood. It doesn't take too long, but it's not super fast either.

Yeah, I'd agree with @kuramochiyu. The chainsaw does its job well without being overly powerful or aggressive. Just the right balance for firewood cutting.

It's interesting to note that the Wen 4017 doesn't have a chain brake. Has anyone had any issues with this?

I see. That's something I'll definitely keep in mind when making my decision. Thanks, everyone, for your input! I'll check out the TechReviewer article and read some more reviews before making my choice.

No problem, @teamdevine. Good luck with your research!

Same here, good luck! Let us know what you decide if you get it.
